Merger Roadmap!

A step by step guide of the potential merger process!

January 28, 2026 Update

This past Sunday, we held another Town Hall Meeting to let church members and friends ask any questions they might have about the potential merger with Faith Presbyterian Church. Thank you all for participating in the two Town Halls we’ve held. There will be another Q&A Session with Pastor Rob on Wednesday, February 4th, at 1PM, and an additional one with Pastor Leon on February 18th at 10AM.

Pastor Leon and Pastor Amy Myhand from Faith will be swapping pulpits on Sunday, February 8th, and there will be a reception after worship at both churches for the respective congregations to get to know them. They both have written short biographical statements that will be shared with each other’s churches. You can find Amy’s here in the E-Blast below.

The joint Task Force to explore the Administrative and Financial side of the potential merger met this past Sunday, and work has already begun on a long checklist of tasks to effectively investigate the merger with due diligence, transparency, and optimism. All findings will be shared as they become available.

Beth Mueller is already working with a Task Force to address the Congregational Life aspect of bringing two congregations together, made up of members of both churches.

The session of SHPC met last night and approved a motion to recommend that the intent to merge with Faith Presbyterian be brought to the congregation for a vote. The next step will be for the congregation to vote on that recommendation after worship on Sunday, February 22nd.
This vote allows the continued investigation and due diligence of a potential merger to occur. Reports will be shared with the congregation as they become available. At the congregational vote on Feb. 22 we are not voting on if the merger will definitively happen, we are only voting on if we want to move forward in the process and continue our investigation of a potential merger. If the congregation votes to move forward with an intent to merge, we will work on the requirements needed to bring the matter to the Presbytery meeting on March 6-7. If the Presbytery approves the intent to merge, we will continue working on all required due diligence, as well as the legal, corporate, and Presbytery requirements, with a potential official merger date of June 1st. The Faith PC family would begin worshipping with SHPC after Easter as we continue working out the details of the merger. Both sessions will vote on a written merger agreement after all due diligence has been completed before the decision is final. To understand the steps to this process, and where we are currently at, please view the graphic below.

If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to Pastor Leon or  Pastor Rob either through email or at one of the two Q&A sessions they are holding.

January 14, 2026 Update

We have some exciting news regarding the potential merger with Faith Presbyterian Church! We have THREE additional opportunities for members to gather and ask questions in the coming weeks.

Sunday, January 25th - immediately after the worship service in the Sanctuary (Pastor Leon, Pastor Rob, Beth)
Wednesday, February 4 - 1PM in the Library (Pastor Rob)
Wednesday, February 18 - 10 AM in the Library (Pastor Leon)

Our Session will meet in two weeks and will vote on a recommendation to the Congregation. The Congregational Vote won’t be until February 22nd, after worship.

Additionally, Pastor Leon and Pastor Amy will conduct a pulpit swap on February 8th and will be available after each service to speak with the respective congregations.

Our Task Force for Administration, Finance, etc., is meeting today (Wednesday) and will begin working with their counterparts at Faith thereafter.

If you have questions or concerns that have not already been answered, please plan to attend one or more of the additional gatherings, or simply email the church with your questions!

January 7, 2026 Update

This past Sunday we held a Town Hall Meeting to discuss the potential merger of Faith Presbyterian and Shepherd of the Hills. Some of the big takeaways from this meeting were:

1) Pastor Rob is not going anywhere.
2) We would still worship at our existing location.
3) Shepherd would not be taking on any debt in the potential meter.
4) We are working to be completely transparent throughout the process.
5) Ultimately our congregation will make the decision.

We also spoke of Task Forces from both churches working together to cover the administrative and financial aspects of the merger. If you click on the button below, you can see a draft for what these Task Forces will be working on together over the next month and a half. Hopefully, this will give you some insight into how we are approaching this unique opportunity. Stay tuned for more updates!

Wed. December 24 & 31, 2025 Update

Grace and Peace, Shepherd Family!

This is the first of what will be weekly updates on the potential merger between Shepherd of the Hills and Faith Presbyterian.  Please click the link below to access the church-wide letter that Pastor Leon sent out last week, which includes a Q&A document you can download.  One of the many exciting opportunities this potential merger could offer is bringing Rev. Amy Myhand, the pastor of Faith Presbyterian, onto our staff to serve as a co-pastor with Pastor Leon.  Pastor Amy is well-known to SHPC, having served as a pastoral intern here in 2020.  Pastor Amy is a good friend to our Staff, an excellent preacher, and a more than capable leader.  Both she and Pastor Leon are thrilled at the potential to serve alongside one another should the way be clear for our churches to come together.

Please read and take note of this important update!  We have had some folks express concern that the congregation of Faith Presbyterian recently voted to move forward with the process of discernment and planning toward a potential merger with SHPC.  This does not mean a merger is definitely happening; it only means they have agreed, as a church, to begin the process, which we also will have the opportunity to do in February.  Before that happens, we will follow the process outlined in the letter Pastor Leon sent to the congregation (click below to read it).  There will be a Town Hall Meeting on Sunday, January 4th, where staff will share information and field any questions from the congregation.  This is an exciting and innovative opportunity, but it is not an effort to create a multi-site church or another campus.  We will remain at our location, and will still be Shepherd of the Hills.  If you have any concerns or questions before the Town Hall, please reach out to Pastor Leon, who will be glad to address them.
