2021 Souper Bowl of Caring
Presbytery Goal: 100,000 Cans
$1 = 2 Cans

The 2021 Souper Bowl of Caring is underway!

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will only be accepting monetary donations this year, and $1 = 2 cans of food. Mission Presbytery has a goal of 100,000 cans, so let’s do our part. And we can recapture our championship and win the Mission Presbytery Souper Bowl Smack Down, the friendly competition between all of the churches participating! So let’s do this SHPC!

Without an understanding of teenage brain development, we might miss life’s teachable moments or shut down our child’s curiosity with easy answers that don’t satisfy the search for truth happening below the surface. That’s why Mark has written this book: to guide you through the world of the teenage brain, to help you understand and appreciate the amazing transformations it undergoes in adolescence to prepare children for adulthood and its many responsibilities.

Between the World and Me
By: Ta-Nehisi Coates

Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’s attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son. Coates shares with his son—and readers—the story of his awakening to the truth about his place in the world through a series of revelatory experiences, from Howard University to Civil War battlefields, from the South Side of Chicago to Paris, from his childhood home to the living rooms of mothers whose children’s lives were taken as American plunder. Beautifully woven from personal narrative, reimagined history, and fresh, emotionally charged reportage, Between the World and Me clearly illuminates the past, bracingly confronts our present, and offers a transcendent vision for a way forward.

Why do serve in youth ministry?
I enjoy engaging with the youth as they are discovering their faith and asking questions. Going on this journey with them helps me to grow in my own faith.
