LENT 2021
Into the Wilderness

The season of Lent is a symbolic journey with Jesus, commemorating the forty days he spent in the wilderness after his baptism. This Lenten season is perhaps the most unique we have experienced as a family of faith.

Over the forty days of Lent this year, we’ll be spending time in the wilderness together, learning, preparing, and growing. Now more than ever we need this season, just as Jesus did. The wilderness has much to teach us, in spite of the challenges it brings. And as we journey together let’s do so in hope because we know that there’s Resurrection on the other side of the wilderness…

LENT 2021

Lent begins in the wilderness.

The Spirit guides Jesus into the wilderness where he comes face to face with temptation and struggle. Yet, in his forty days of fasting, resisting, and wandering, Jesus is shaped and formed for his ministry. Similarly, through the wilderness of Lent, we are invited to surrender to the wild leadings of the Spirit.

We rarely enter the wilderness willingly, but hopefully through our wandering we remember who we are and whose we are. The wilderness can become sacred even if it remains dangerous. There is no wilderness space too harsh or threatening for God’s love. This Lent, we welcome you to the journey.

Intro to Centering Prayer

Workshop | Feb 20 | 1-3PM | Zoom
Tuesdays | Feb 23 – Mar 16 | 3:30 – 4:45PM | Zoom

During this wilderness time of Lent, it is good to carve out time to listen within our own inner landscape. Have you ever thought about trying centering prayer but didn’t know where to start? Or maybe you’re not an early riser so our current group which meets Monday and Friday mornings doesn’t work with your schedule? If so, we are offering an Introduction to Centering Prayer Workshop on Saturday February 20th from 1-3 pm on Zoom. Kristi Michener and Gay Bullard, commissioned by Contemplative Outreach, will be the presenters. Both have many years of experience in this prayer practice. This workshop will be followed by four sessions on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:45 for more practice.

Finishing Well With God

March 1 – April 26
Mondays | 7PM | Zoom

How does your story end? Does God have plans for you in the “Fourth Quarter” of your life that accomplishes his purpose in you and through you? Is there something you can learn from other key characters from Scripture in how God worked in them and used them in the latter years of their lives? Can we enrich our purpose for living with God even now?
