Love God. Love Everybody.
This is the vision of Shepherd of the Hills. Love God. Love Everybody.
It’s that simple, and that complicated; it’s that easy, and that hard.
We are a warm community, grounded in Scripture, united by grace, and driven by gratitude to serve Jesus Christ in the world and worship Him with joy.
As a church, we are dedicated to empowering everyone to live out Jesus’ commandment by going deeper to worship, grow, connect, serve, and invite.
“Love God” finds expression in worship. Our worship is filled with humor and music, informed by tradition, but not stifled by it, and marked by deep roots in Scripture and theology. The deeper we go, the more joy we find.
“Love God” calls us to know more about God and what God wants for us. You can’t love what you don’t know, and the more we know, the more we appreciate what God — the Father, our Creator; Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer; and the Spirit, our Counselor and Guide — has done for us. The deeper we go, the more we want to go deeper.
“Love Everybody” starts in our own community. We believe a healthy community, like a healthy ecosystem, needs diversity. We like and respect each other, even when we disagree how to live out our faith. And once we dive beneath the surface, we find that the things that bring us together are far greater and more important than those that divide us. The deeper we go, the more we find that unites us.
“Love Everybody” also means that we love and serve those around us and in the world. This is not out of a grim sense of duty, but an overflowing of gratitude for the grace and peace we have been given through Jesus Christ. The deeper we go, the more we are called to serve.
“Love Everybody” also means that we can’t keep all of this to ourselves. The more involved we get in our worship and service, the more we come to know and love each other, the more we grow, and the more we are compelled to invite others to share this with us. The deeper we go, the more we want others to share in what we have.
