MISSION

Freeze Night Volunteers

One of SHPC's missions is to host homeless families at the Central Presbyterian Church downtown on nights when the temperature is forecast to be in the freezing range.

When called, our church is assigned to run the shelter on Monday and Tuesday nights. At least three people are needed in the evening from 5:00 to 7:30 to open the fellowship hall, greet guests, and prepare and serve a dinner to no more than 20 people. Two people are needed for the overnight shift which starts at 7:30 p.m. and involves locking the fellowship hall, being available if needed, sleeping in the overnight hosts' room, preparing and serving breakfast, and securing the fellowship hall when all guests have departed at 7:30 a.m.

While SHPC has members already on the Freeze Night contact list, we need a deeper pool to give everyone flexibility while still covering our responsibilities.

We have no Freeze Night coordinator at this time. Contact Pastor Mike if you can help with this ministry.
