A year ago, SHPC’s Disaster Response team joined with people from all over Central Texas to help out with the Extreme Home Makeovers team in Bastrop County following the September 2011 wildfires. And now it’s time at last for the big reveal! Read more →

Our Disaster Response team lead, Tary Snyder, keeps us connected with
Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA), PCUSA’s national outreach.
PDA (www.presbyterianmission.org/ministries/pda/) is already working with other national and international partners — Sandy also caused great damage in the Caribbean — and more details will be available in time. Giving to PDA’s work is always welcome. In the short term, PDA asks us all to pray:
Holy God, You are our comfort and strength in times of sudden disaster, crisis, or chaos. By your Spirit, lift up those who have fallen, sustain those who work to rescue or rebuild, and surround us now with your grace and peace to face the challenges ahead. Grant us the assurance of your presence even in this time of uncertainty, and fill us with the hope of your new creation; through Jesus Christ, our rock and redeemer.
To be included in emails for SHPC’s Disaster Response group, browse the groups at shpc.infellowship.com and express your interest.

Since 1998, members of SHPC and Mission Presbytery have responded to many natural disasters across Texas such as floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and fires. From the fires in Bastrop and southwest Austin in 2011, to assistance following the 2007 hurricanes (Katrina & Rita), to Central Texas flooding in any number of years, SHPC people are ready to lend a hand!
