Stephen Ministry

Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church is a Stephen Ministry congregation.  The Stephen Ministry trains members of the congregation to help provide Christian caregiving to our members and the community.  Stephen Ministers being support and healing love on a one-to-one basis to people who are grieving, in crisis, or experiencing other life stresses.

Thirteen new Stephen Ministers were commissioned at the end of January 2005.  Their training has included: 

• The Art of Listening
• Maintaining Boundaries in Caregiving
• Confidentiality
• Ministering to Those in Grief
• The Stephen Minister's Role in Dealing with Depression
• Helping Suicidal Persons Get the Help they Need
• Ministry to the Dying and Their Friends
• Ministering to Those Experiencing Divorce
• Ministering to Those in Life Changes (Aging, Needing Long-Term Care)
